Life

Life

Water stretches before me

On all sides

Surface perfectly still

Reflections perfect

Not a sound or splash

Nothing

Nothing

Nothing

Empty, Plain, Vacant

Pointless, Useless, Hollow

Suddenly

A rock drops from above

Sinks

Sinks

Sinks

Jagged, Sharp, Rough

Wounding, Hurting, Pain

Water ripples

Then

A petal

Floats down

Swish

Swish

Swish

Gently touching the surface

Colorful, Beautiful, Soft

Joyful, Blissful, Ecstatic

Water ripples

Rocks of all sizes

Sink

Sink

Sink

Small petals, big petals

Swish

Swish

Swish

Every ripple

Laps at my feet

Some strong, some weak

Still touching me

All the same

The water starts gurgling

Moving with a direction

Splash

Splash

Splash

Gushing, Rushing, Flowing

Purposeful, Meaningful, Determined

Progressing with

Destination in mind

I close my eyes

While water sweeps

All around

Realizing that

There is no movement

Without ups and downs

After all

Petals are what

Are left

On the surface

In the end

And

 There is a purpose

In life

  1. This is a remarkably pleasant surprise “Life” poem by such a young girl. It brings out life in such a thoughtful and creative way. Keep it up !
